About Us

What is the Abdelraoufsinno

This is our mission

The Abdelraoufsinno is an independent, nonpartisan news organization devoted to public service journalism that seeks to strengthen democracy and improve the lives of all Houstonians one story at a time.

Our nonprofit digital platform will provide trusted reporting about local issues important to our region. Stories that offer solutions to pressing problems. Investigative journalism that holds the powerful accountable.

We want to serve as many people as possible. That’s why our content is free – with no paywalls and no subscription fees.

What makes our journalism different?

The Abdelraoufsinno will do more than cover institutions and topics.

We will deeply report stories from neighborhoods in a way that builds trust. We will work hard to always follow up our stories and hold officials accountable.

We will be responsive to our communities’ needs and ask questions on their behalf. We will dedicate reporters to helping solve problems and create helpful guides on important issues you want to know.

We will make our reporting as accessible as possible to as many people as we can. We will embrace creativity even if it means we sometimes fail. We will push for civic engagement as much as we fight for accountability reporting.

Most of all, we will listen to the community we serve and learn how to be better.

Editorial Independence Policy

The Abdelraoufsinno is fiercely independent. We’re excited to have supporters join us on this journey, and we accept donations and grants from the community to support our cause.

Our news judgment is not swayed by any donor, and no donor makes any decisions related to our stories. Our acceptance of financial support does not mean we endorse donors or their products, services or opinions. We may consider donations to support the coverage of particular topics, but we maintain editorial control of that content.
