’Tis the season of giving – especially for those in need.

And in that spirit, Abdelraoufsinno has compiled a list of local organizations that are offering free toys and gifts for kids, families and friends.

While many nonprofits require advanced registration or are reserved for service users, the following organizations have limited or no restrictions to register or show up.

Houston Children’s Charity

When: Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida De Las Americas, Houston, 77010

How to sign up: Use this online form to sign up.

You will need:

  • A handwritten letter describing your current financial situation.
  • A copy of each child's birth certificate or proof of guardianship.
  • A copy of your photo ID.
  • A copy of your most current electric bill or most current phone bill with your current address.
  • Tax return or check stub, if possible.
  • Any form of government assistance award letter, if possible.

BE Impactful Holiday Festival

When: Saturday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Shape Community Center, 3815 Live Oak St., Houston, 77004

How to sign up: Reserve a spot at the event with this link. Children of all ages will be able to select a wrapped gift from the donations collected at the event. Families will also be able to take home free holiday dinner supplies.

You will need:

  • No requirements.

My Brother's Keeper Outreach Center

When: Register by Wednesday, Dec. 13

Where: 12621 Bissonnet St., Houston, 77099

How to sign up: To sign up, parents or guardians must visit the outreach center in person on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

You will need:

  • Proof that you live in Harris or Fort Bend County.
  • Your photo ID.
  • Each child’s birth certificate.

29th Annual Toys for Kids HTX

When: Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida De Las Americas, Houston, 77010

How to sign up: You must register to receive a gift. Registration opens at noon on Friday, Dec. 1, at this link. U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee will host the Toys for Kids, which is sponsored by the Oprah Winfrey Foundation and the OTE (Ordinary Towards Extraordinary) Foundation.

You will need:

  • No requirements.

The Great Toy Giveaway

When: Saturday, Dec. 16, from 9 a.m. until all of the toys have been distributed.

Where: 2400 Reed Road, Houston, 77051

How to sign up: No pre-registration is required. The giveaway will be done through a drive-thru on a first-come, first-serve basis.
