Hurricane Beryl left millions of Houstonians without power, and with that, the lack of air conditioning. To top it off, temperatures reached the low 90s with a heat index of 106 degrees.

The hot temperatures combined with high humidity has created a dangerous situation for many Houstonians, especially older adults and infants.

While much of Houston remains without power, CenterPoint has released an outage map showing restoration efforts underway. However, some have questioned the map’s accuracy.

Some general heat tips include drinking plenty of water, wearing loose and light-colored clothing, and wearing hats and sunscreen.

Symptoms of heat-related illness include dizziness, confusion, nausea, excessive sweating and even unconsciousness. If a life-threatening emergency happens, call 911.
